Sunny Days Fees September 2025

3 & 4 year old funding

Since September 2017, 30 hours “free” childcare has been available for working parents of eligible 3 and 4 year-olds. The scheme aims to support working families by reducing the cost of childcare.

The eligibility rules for the scheme are:

  • Your child will be aged 3 or 4
  • Both parents must be working – or the sole parent is working
  • Each parent earns, on average, a weekly minimum equivalent of 16 hours at National Minimum Wage or National Living Wage
  • Each parent must have an annual income of less than £100,000
  • You must live in England

Although the scheme is widely referred to as 30 hours “free” childcare it is only 30 hours per week during the 38 weeks of school term-time, which amounts to 1,140 hours per year. Nurseries like ours are typically open for 50 weeks a year to meet the needs of our working families.

The 30 Hour Extended Entitlement offered by Sunny Days Nursery is ‘stretched’ over the whole year. This means that parents will be able to receive just over 22 funded hours each week for 50 weeks of the year instead of 30 hours, only in the 38 term-time weeks.

For further information and costs associated with the 30 hours stretched offer or if you would like to look around the Nursery, please speak to Mrs Judith Crook on 01543 227165 or 227168 to arrange an appointment.
